Don’t you like getting something wonderful for an unbelievably low price? But dangerous trends in discounting baby bedding have come to light. Our manufacturer industry investigator asked several top baby bedding manufacturers how some e-tailers can sell baby bedding 75% less than others. The answer is a little scary - baby bedding e-tailers are selling crib bedding ‘seconds’ as if they where ‘firsts’. “Seconds” are products rejected by the manufacturer as being flawed. Most baby bedding e-tailers insisted their baby bedding was "first line quality" even when presented with proof from the baby bedding manufacturer that they where misleading consumers.

“Safety”, is the primary concern when you buy baby bedding that might be a second.  Baby bedding such as a bumper pad may have faulty ties that could tear loose, presenting the danger of strangulation. Baby bedding fitted sheets may become separated from the elastic securing the baby bedding sheet to the crib, presenting the risk of suffocation. Baby bedding quilts and blankets can have small imperfections that lead to dangerous problems. Details poorly sewn to the baby bedding quilt may come loose and cause a choking hazard. Baby Bedding manufacturers choose whether baby bedding should be released as a second or a first using rigorous standards. They do this with your baby’s safety in mind. So if the deal is just too good to be true it probably is. Read more about thread counts for baby bedding or choosing a baby bedding theme

Baby bedding: Does thread count matter? Choosing baby bedding based on thread count may limit your choices needlessly. Thread count is the number of threads in a square inch of fabric of your baby bedding. Baby bedding sales people may say, “the higher the thread count on your baby bedding the softer it is and longer lasting.” Not always true. Experts agree thread count in baby bedding can range dramatically. Baby bedding manufacturers employ a gimmick of using double and triple ply threads and then double or triple the thread count. Baby bedding fabricated this way may wash poorly and wear out quickly. Plus baby bedding made this way is no softer than lesser thread count baby bedding sets. If you are considering silk or jersey baby bedding then low thread counts make these sheets softer and more durable a higher thread counts would result in baby bedding that was stiff or rough.
