Shape your crib bedding theme around your answers. Do a crib bedding theme that loosely references your favorite book. One couple worked with our designer to create a nursery for their little boy where the accent color was red – Dads favorite boyhood color. They added a crib bedding with a construction theme because Dads favorite book was “Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel”. Dad’s favorite thing to do when he was a little boy was play “army” with his friends. So they added photos of Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa in full dress Army uniform to one wall. They used hand painted picture frames that referenced the crib bedding theme. Dad did not have any heirlooms he wanted to add to the room. So we put in a teddy bear shelf and placed mom’s old teddy on it and then turned the entire shelf into a decorative focal point for the nursery. Barn wood or Cabin Style Nursery Décor and Crib BeddingDuring the 1930’s craftsmen were limited to recycling old barn wood to create a cradle or crib. Crib bedding was soft blue patch work or simple gingham and broad cloth plaids. Out fitting a crib with crib bedding from this era require special attention to detail. Today's barn wood crib is constructed of pine or cedar with a distressed finish. Crib bedding as well may have a tea stained look. Crib bedding sets in this theme create a homey, country feel. Nurseries in this style are intimate and may have a rocking chair of oil finished pine, maple or Ashe. Don’t feel you must match the wood of the crib to the rocker nor do you have to match the crib bedding to other details in the nursery. Mission Crib BeddingIn the early pioneering days of the west missionaries where limited for materials to build houses or sew clothing and crib bedding. From their struggle a new aesthetic was born for nurseries and crib bedding alike. The hallmark of the mission style is the use of non traditional woods such as laurel and juniper. However black walnut is used today for mission style cribs. In crib bedding beautiful tea stained whites are preferred. As well as crib bedding with little ornamentation and detail. Prairie Nursery Décor and Crib BeddingPrairie nursery décor and crib bedding features geometric star or botanical shapes similar to the Multi-Hickory crib bedding set. Cribs where made from standard hardwoods with little decoration or ornamentation. Crib bedding is 100% cotton and prefers a loose patchwork theme. These crib bedding sets with their simple lines are statements by themselves. Accentuate the crib bedding with an Arts and Crafts Movement stained glass. |
